'Here comes the sun' - Limited edition sculpture
‘Here comes the sun’ is Ashlee Bennett’s third limited edition sculpture release. This piece has an edition of 22, never to be repeated again. Each piece is made from earthenware clay, an oyster shell gloss glaze and lustred with a mother of pearl accent. The dimensions are 5.8cm high x 4cm deep x 5.7cm wide. The edition number is marked on the base of the sculpture e.g. 1/22.
‘Here comes the sun’ is a limited edition sculpture of 22 works. It symbolises hope, fertility, a readiness to nurture new ideas and creativity. It’s about giving yourself permission to lean into your heart space and bodily intuition while you anchor into the vulnerability of incubation - whether that be for something conceptual or pregnancy. The master of this sculpture was created in late 2024, while I was navigating the beginning of my fertility journey. I sculpted her to hold space for my hopes and to ‘try on’ the energy of welcoming a new life. Now that I am quite pregnant as I write this, this work became symbolic for so much more - reflective of where creative energy comes from, and what it takes to nurture and let ideas brew before birthing them. This release of 22 is my offering to others who need this energy, too.’
