Commission Series: Beds

$750.00

Ashlee Bennett is now offering commissions based on her popular mini sculpture series, which are primarily self portraits. Now you can order a mini sculpture that is more personalised to you or someone you know. Combining Ashlee’s artistic skill and intuitive vision with your personal input will create an extra special artwork that can remain with you for decades to come.

What you get - Mini Bed Sculpture

  • A bed based mini sculpture with one figure and 2-3 additional items like pets, books, laptops etc.

  • The figure within the sculpture is customised to your specifications regarding body size, shape, skin tone and hair colour (see images for examples - unnatural hair colours available too, but not pictured).

  • Each piece will be made with fine mesh earthenware clay, with glaze and 24k gold lustre accents.

  • Approximate size will be around 4.5cm high x 8.5cm deep x 7cm wide. These sizes may vary slightly depending on the needs of the sculptural composition.

A brief overview of what you can expect from the commission process:

  1. Purchase a commission

  2. Fill in the associated form and submit it within a week (or later date specified by you). You can also upload reference images in this form.

  3. Ashlee will review within 3-5 business days, draw up a rough, coloured sketch and will email you with any questions, thoughts, and suggestions.

  4. Any changes must be made at this stage and must be within reason. Ashlee is here to guide the process as an artist and is unlike that of a designer. A basic trust of her process is required and must remain within her sculptural style.

  5. A written approval via email is made which locks the process in and Ashlee gets to work.

  6. Progress images will be sent when the initial sculpt is complete (greenware state), after the bisque fire and after the glaze fire before shipping, to share the process with you and keep you informed.

  7. Your commission piece will be packaged and shipped to you using the shipping address provided at checkout.

  8. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us.

Commissions: Purchasing a commission is an agreement of good faith and collaboration between the artist (Ashlee Bennett) and the commissioner. Ashlee only works with individuals or entities who are willing to trust and respect Ashlee’s artistic process and integrity of creation as demonstrated in her past work. A form associated with each commission type needs to be filled out ideally within a week of purchase or with a custom, agreed upon time in special circumstances before any work begins. The approximate lead time for ‘mini sculpture’ commissions are 6-10 weeks once the commission form is submitted - any delays to this time frame will be discussed on an individual basis. This time frame does not include shipping. Due to the nature of ceramics, it is required that all sculptural composition and colour requests must be determined at the beginning of the process and after this no changes can be made. Ashlee is thorough in the consultation phase with an in-depth form and willingness to reasonable discuss before finalising via writing over email. If an individual or entity is unable to tolerate minor imperfections and artistic decisions that may be made during the process and improves the work in keeping with Ashlee’s artistic style (within reason and in consultation with the commission form), a commission by Ashlee Bennett may not be appropriate.
